Finding the purpose of life

May 5, 2021

I've always been searching for why I'm here. The one thing to live for. My life purpose.

Questioning what I want since I was in school, the thoughts about the reason to live really started to get to me a few years ago and haven't left my head ever since.

Over the years, I searched for hobbies that make me feel alive, actions that bring me happiness, and the profession I'll always want to continue doing.

But instead of trying out a lot of different things, I mostly stayed in one place. Thinking. Waiting. Hoping that I'll one day magically realize what I wanted all along, what my life purpose is. I sat down a lot of times to scribble down thoughts in my head, trying to figure it all out.

Of course, it wasn't that simple. It still isn't. But it feels like I'm getting closer with every step. Wiser with every action. Changing my perspective a little with every conversation.

These days I feel closer to the answer to my question than I ever did. Maybe there won't ever be the one answer, maybe it's just a feeling, but having clarity about that can change a lot.

I've come to realize that there may not be "that one life purpose". That single reason to live.

Maybe the purpose of life is to live it. To be happy. To be fulfilled. To do what makes us feel alive.

For every person these things are different. Some find comfort in finding a beautiful place they can call home, others may want to call every place their home. Some may want to go on adventures and take risks, others may want to have a safe haven.

Everyone has a different life purpose. And it'll change over the years for sure.

But in the end, it all comes down to happiness. Fulfillment.

We all want to be happy, live a life we enjoy, do things that bring us joy. We just have to find out what these things are.

I believe that life is about living it in the way that's best for you.

It can bring you happiness to chill at home, to help other people, to have a successful career, to travel the world. There are so many possibilities.

The real challenge is to find out what you want. What makes you happy.

The good thing about it?

You're learning more with every single thought, action, conversation, every step you take.

Each of them shapes the image of the life that's right for you, the life you need to feel best.

And you can take small actions towards reaching it every single day.
